Real Therapy. Real Change.

Because surviving isn't the same as thriving.

A Little About Marissa

Outside of her clinical work, Marissa has been a professional equestrian show jumping athlete since 2013. Some highlights of her riding career include competing in the Maclay Finals, working alongside top riders and trainers, and spending winter seasons in Wellington. Her love of animals has always been a part of her life—she grew up with Airedale terriers and now shares her home with her two rescue cats, Sikes and Stanley.

Marissa also values her family life. Her husband is a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing, and they share a commitment to caring for others. She is a stepmother to two boys, ages 8 and 11, one of whom has special needs, and she enjoys the time they spend together.

In her free time, Marissa enjoys creative expression through abstract art, listening to audiobooks, watching football, and unwinding with horror movies. She also enjoys all things spooky year-round!

Areas of Focus

Trauma and Complex Trauma

Perinatal Mental Health

Therapy for individuals navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, infertility, pregnancy loss, and the emotional transition into parenthood.

Life Transitions & Daily Stressors

Even everyday life can feel overwhelming at times. Therapy offers a space to manage stress, navigate change, and build practical tools to feel more balanced and in control.

Chronic Illness and Medical Trauma

Therapy for individuals coping with chronic illness, medical diagnoses, ongoing health challenges, and the emotional toll of navigating healthcare systems.

Anxiety and Emotional Overwhelm

Modalities

Marissa utilizes a multi-modal approach allowing her to custom-fit treatment to individual clients. Here are some modalities Marissa utilizes:

Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps individuals understand how trauma impacts thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This approach focuses on building coping skills, increasing emotional safety, and developing healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Strength-Based Therapy

Strength-Based Therapy focuses on identifying and building upon existing strengths, skills, and resources. Rather than focusing solely on problems, this approach helps individuals recognize their resilience and use their capabilities to create meaningful change.

Mindfulness-Based CBT

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy combines cognitive therapy techniques with mindfulness practices to help individuals become more aware of their thoughts and emotions. This approach can reduce emotional reactivity, improve coping, and support lasting emotional well-being.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems views the mind as made up of different "parts," each with its own thoughts, emotions, and roles. IFS helps individuals develop a compassionate relationship with these parts, promoting healing, self-understanding, and greater emotional balance.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy helps individuals develop psychological flexibility by learning to accept difficult thoughts and emotions while taking meaningful action aligned with their values. The goal is not to eliminate discomfort, but to build a rich and fulfilling life alongside it.

Family Systems/Bowen Family Systems

Family Systems Therapy explores how relationships and family dynamics influence thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Bowen Family Systems helps individuals develop greater self-awareness, improve relationship patterns, and respond to life's challenges with greater clarity and resilience.

Hello, my name is Trevor A Glymph. I’m a proud Capella University graduate with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I specialize in Narrative Therapy, which means I’m a bit of a story detective, helping you uncover the narratives that no longer serve you and reshape them into ones that empower and support your growth. Outside the therapy room, I’m an artist, computer animator, dancer, reader, dog parent, athlete, and pescatarian husband who loves to travel. All of these parts of me shape the curiosity, creativity, and compassion I bring into my work.
